MGP to hold Satyagraha for good governance

1 min read

Mysuru: Upset over bad roads and bad governance in the City, the Mysuru Grahakara Parishat is planning to hold a Satyagraha-like protest on January 29. Interestingly, as part of the protest, they have urged the people to join them by desisting to visit shops or restaurants and even stay off roads from 9 am to 6 pm.

In a release, the MGP said excepting those in need of essential services, people have been urged to have a self-imposed lockdown (like the one observed during the pandemic).

Complaining about bad roads, the MGP said of late, deaths on Mysuru roads are going up – 170 deaths in 2022 while it was 121 in 2021. It also complained majority of the parks in the City have been encroached upon in the guise of providing civic amenities violating Karnataka Parks Act. “Less said is better about the ongoing construction works atop Chamundi Hills in the name of tourism,” the MGP said in the release.

Condemning bad governance, the MGP’s several pleas to the government have not attended to. Hence, it has decided to hold Satyagraha to draw the government’s attention.
