Meat lovers feel bony as MCC cracks down on vendors

1 min read

Mysuru: It was Sunday and unmindful of the prohibition on sales, meat vendors had opened stalls to make up for the losses in the wake of Covid restrictions in place.

But, they had to face the heat of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) personnel who cracked down on the meat stalls opened defying the prohibition on sales on account of Mahaveer Jayanti celebration.

Those for whom Sunday remains incomplete without the bite of meat, who had turned up to buy home chicken, mutton and fish were left disappointed as MCC personnel closed shops at Boti Bazaar, K G Koppal and other places wherever meat is sold. In some shops, the MCC personnel also seized meat kept on sale.

On the other hand, the shops selling essentials like provisions, vegetables and fruits did a roaring business at Devaraja Market, Nanjumalige, K R Market in Agrahara among several other places.

With four hour relaxations given to open shops selling such commodities, people were eager to buy, as they have to wait till Monday for the norms related to Weekend Curfew to be over.
