MDH Spice brand founder Mahashay Dharampal Gulati dies at 98

New Delhi: Mahashay Dharampal Gulati, the founder owner of iconic spice brand MDH, passed away on Thursday. He was 98. 

Gulati popularly known as ‘spice king’ breathed his last at around 6 am at Mata Chandan Devi Hospital in the city.

Born on March 27, 1923 in Sialkot, Pakistan, Gulati started with a small shop in the city, which his father had started before partition. However, at the time of partition of the country in 1947, his family moved to Delhi.

For the regular TV viewers, Gulati was a known face as he was endorsing the brand ‘MDH’ in the advertisement, sporting his moustache.

The government had conferred Padmavibhushan on Gulati a year ago.
