Suttur seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji who is the honorary president of the Forum launched the programme at JSS High School campus in Raghavendra Nagar.
Hundreds of people had turned up to receive the groceries kit. No one paid heed to follow social distancing, forcing the authorities to immediately stop the distribution and planned to distribute them directly to the doorsteps of the people.
Groceries kit comprised five kg rice, one kg each of sugar and tur dal, 250 grams of tea powder and half litres of edible oil.
MCF representatives R Vasudev Bhat, P V Giri, Balasubramanyam, Mayor Tasneem, DC Abhiram G Shankar, Mysuru City Corporation commissioner Gurudatta Hegde were present.
Since 2006, MCF is helping distressed people. Earlier, the victims of Tsunami in Tamil Nadu, flood in North Karnataka in 2009 and recent floods in North Karnataka were also extended a similar help.
