MCC zone-1 office to be built at Rs four crore

Mysuru: In a major relief to the residents of Thyagaraja road, Mysuru City Corporation’s zone-1 office will get a new building. The new building will be built on MCC site on fifth cross, Uttaradhi Mutt road at the cost of Rs four crore.
MLA S A Ramdass who laid the foundation for the works, directed the authorities to ensure quality work and complete within stipulated time. Lift facility should also be made in the new building, he said.
Corporator B V Manjunath who represents Ward 51 under Zone-1, said ‘The office is presently functioning at the place earmarked for a park on fifth cross, Thyagaraja road. When Ramdas was the MLA in 1993, it was planned to build rooms and open a public library in the park. Though the rooms were built, no measures were taken to open the library. The Zone-1 office was functioning from the same rooms. The plan to develop park had also remained in abeyance. Now, the park will be developed and the work on building the compound will be started soon”.
Zone-1 development officer Bharath and engineer Kiran, BJP Krishnaraja Vice-president Balakrishna, State executive member Ramprasad, ward 51 BJP president Gururaj Shenoy were present.
