MCC staffer tests positive, offices closed for a day for sanitisation

Mysuru: A staff at Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is tested positive for Covid-19. Following this MCC main office on New Sayyaji Rao road is closed for 24 hours for sanitisation.

The 32-year-old staff attached to health section in MCC who was also a cricket player showed symptoms on Friday and underwent test same day. On Monday, the result came positive confirming the infection. Now, the primary contacts are identified and sent to home quarantine, besides screening their health condition.

MCC Health officer Dr D G Nagaraj told Mysoorunews.com “One person who works in health section at MCC tested positive and he has been shifted to Covid Hospital. We taken all the precautions and whole premises including all the office chambers are sanitised”.

Those who were in the contact of positive person have been put under home quarantine. If Mysuru City Corporation commissioner is in the contact list, the commissioner will also go for quarantine”, he said.

The health officer clarified that MCC is not declared as a containment zone. However the area of residence of infected staff is considered as a containment area.

As a further measure, we will screen the health of all the staff of health section. Tommorow onwards we will screen all the Pourakarmikas, who are aged above 50 years, he added.
