MCC public toilet on JLB road remains locked, awaiting formal opening!

1 min read

Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has been building hi-tech public toilets suiting the demands of the people in the heart of the city, with an eye on tourists.

But, the common man has to make amends with the available, sometimes unavailable toilets. The case in point here is about a toilet near Kamsale Mahadevaiah Circle (St Mary’s School junction) on JLB road, albeit small built by MCC under Swachh Bharat Mission in Ward-55, for men and women, but has never opened the door.

It’s been five years since this toilet was built but remains locked always, with no hint of inauguration. With the toilet locked, the people seen relieving in open outside the toilet, in the early morning or night time has become common.

The footpath slabs in front of the toilet have also partly collapsed, explaining the pathetic state of the system.

Mayor Shivakumar who took keen interest in giving a new look to vacant spots that had turned into a dump yard, including the place next to this toilet, should take interest in making the toilet accessible to people.
