MCC bypoll! Congress’ Rajani Annaiah wins by margin of 1997 votes in Yaraganahalli ward

Mysuru: Congress has added yet another number in Mysuru city corporation, with its candidate emerging victorious in the by- election to Yaraganahalli Ward- 36.
On Monday, the votes were counted and Congress candidate Rajani Annaiah won by a margin of 1997 votes against her nearest rival Leelavati Mahesh of JDS. Rajani Annaiah got 4113 votes, Leelavati 2116 and BJP’s Shobha P 601 votes.
BJP was pushed to third position.
The by- election was necessitated after the cancellation of membership of previous JDS Corporator Rukmini Madegowda.
Rukmini was the Mayor of MCC when the High Court upheld the lower court ruling and ordered for by-election.
The by-election was held on September 3 and total five candidates were in fray including Congress, BJP, JDS and two independents.
