MCC appeals people to be beware of fake news

Mysuru: On one hand, Mysuru City Corporation ( MCC) has taken up a massive drive to disinfect localities to keep Coronavirus under control, on the other, the authorities are fighting to check fake news.
There was a post on a social media recently where it was said that “A stranger spit near RO water plant on Dr Rajkumar road”. As the news spread, it went viral and locals were fearing to collect water.
Civic authorities of Vani Vilas Water Works cross checked the veracity of the news with the help of the footage of a CCTV camera installed near the plant and clarified the message as a fake.
However, as a precautionary measure, disinfectant was sprayed around the plant by health wing attached to city Corporation.
The authorities have appealed to people to not to believe in any news without vetting into the rationale behind it.
