Mysuru: Mayor Shivakumar has accused Mysuru City Commissioner Ashaad Ur Rahman Shariff of curtailing his and corporators’ rights by out rightly cancelling the council meet scheduled for Thursday.
Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday, Mayor Shivakumar sought action against the commissioner and also demanded the government to transfer Shariff from Mysuru City Corporation.
Mayor said that except him, none have the power to cancel the council meeting. But the commissioner has unilaterally cancelled the meeting – scheduled for Thursday – without consulting anyone, he accused. “There were a lot of agendas to be discussed at the council meeting including various projects under the Greater Mysuru. But without consulting any of us, the Commissioner cancelled the meeting and left for Bengaluru to attend a meeting of Urban Development Minister,” Mayor Shivakumar said. “This was my last council meeting. But the commissioner has intentionally cancelled the meeting,” said the Mayor, demanding the commissioner’s transfer from Mysuru City Corporation.
Deputy Mayor D Roopa, corporators S B M Manju, Shobha, Ashwini, Bhagya and Madesh were present.
