‘Matte Mukyamantri’ with a take on relevant politics in Karnataka to be staged on Sunday

Mysuru: ‘Matte Mukyamantri’, a new version of the popular play ‘Mukyamantri’ that still holds relevance with politics will be staged on March 20 at Kalamandira at 7 pm. 

Kalagangothri Theatre Troupe from Bengaluru is presenting the play with popular actor ‘Mukyamantri’ Chandru in the lead role.

Chandru is also a seasoned politician and got the permanent prefix as ‘Mukyamantri’ for the title role he has been enacting in the play for several decades.

The play is written by playwright K Y Narayanswamy and Directed by B V Rajaram also the former director of Rangayana.

‘Mukyamantri’ Chandru told media persons on Wednesday “Kalagangothri is presenting the new version of the play. The play offers a slice of political scenario of the State that forms the integral part of the plot. The duration is two hours”.

Chandru also mentioned that the play focus on chief minister and his coterie.

Earlier version of the play showed ‘Mukyamantri’ as manipulative, while this new version is going to highlight the necessity of chief minister who can be ideal to others.

B V Rajaram said “the play already staged in Bengaluru is now being staged in Mysuru during the Bahuroopi National Theatre Festival on March 20”.

Kalagangothri Troupe was founded in 1971 and has completed its 50 years.  ‘Mukyamantri’ has touched 775 shows. Now, we are going to stage the new political drama, Rajaram added.
