Many fall ill at Yadavagiri railway quarters after chlorine leaks at VVWW water purifier unit

Mysuru: Several people including children fell ill at the Yadavagiri railway quarters after the chlorine leaked from the water purifier at Vani Vilas Water Works at Yadavagiri in the city on Monday. 

The incident occurred at around 3-30 PM. Initially it was suspected to be the gas leak, but later it was known as the leakage of chlorine.

It is suspected that the miscreants damaged the outlet of the Vani Vilas Water Works purifier close to the Railway quarters. Following the chlorine gas leak, around 10 children had vomiting sensation and complained of headache. An auto driver immediately shifted the children to Cheluvamba hospital, Similarly the people who inhaled the gas also felt uneasiness and were rushed to the Railway hospital.

The fire and emergency services personnel rushed to the spot and made temporary arrangements to stop the leakage of gas.

More than eight children are admitted at Cheluvamba, three at Apollo BGS Hospitals and nearly 10 others are admitted at the Railway Hospital in Yadavagiri.

Mysuru City Corporation offers also visited the spot.
