Mandya to celebrate International Yoga Day at KRS dam; preparations are on

Mandya: Mandya district administration is preparing to hold the upcoming International Yoga Day – celebrated on June 21 – at the Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) dam premises in Srirangapatna. About 1,500 yoga enthusiasts will perform yogasana to celebrate the International Yoga Day in the backdrop of beautiful gardens from 7 am to 7.45 am.
Deputy Commissioner Dr H N Gopalakrishna who held a preparatory meeting here on Wednesday, said that the yoga day will be celebrated in association with Zilla Panchayat, District Ayush Department and Youth Empowerment and Sports Department.
He appealed to the officials concerned to make the yoga day a grand success by encouraging more participation. The officials have been asked to ensure yoga by participants beforehand at the premises. Besides, they have been asked to create awareness among the public and encourage more people to participate in it.
Meanwhile, special buses have been arranged for those taking part in the yoga day from Mandya to KRS dam, said Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr H L Nagaraju.
Additional Mandya Divisional Officer Krishnakumar, Red Cross organisation’s Meerashivalingaiah, District Ayush officer Dr Seethalakshmi and others were present.
