Mandya Ramesh conferred ‘Ranga Siri-2023’ award in USA

 

Mysuru: Sandalwood actor and theatre person Mandya Ramesh was presented ‘Ranga Siri- 2023’ award by Ranga Vartula, during Utsava- 2023 organised at Washington DC, USA.

 

Ranga Vartula is the theatre troupe formed by likeminded persons among Kannadigas settled in Washington DC, the capital city of USA. The theatre troupe staged its first act ‘Karimayi’ a play by noted playwright Jnanapit awardee Dr Chandrashekar Kambara at Cinetech Theatre Auditorium in Washington DC on June 3. 

 

 

The play directed by founder director of Ranga Vartula Nithish Sridhar saw over 30 amateur artists showcasing their talent on the stage.

 

Sunitha Ananthaswamy who came all the way from Michigan for the fest, rendered theatre songs. Mandya Ramesh from Karnataka was the special invitee and was conferred Ranga Siri Award for his enormous contributions to Kannada theatre. 

 

Mandya Ramesh who lauded the enthusiasm and talent of Nithish Sridhar said ‘Theatre is the best medium to kindle interest in Kanbada culture among children. Kannada can be preserved and nurtured only through theatre by training the interested persons, not by musical notes.’

 

Speaking about the play, Mandya Ramesh said ‘Theatre artistes need both grace and force, which were clearly visible in the artistes of the troupe of Nithish Sridhar. The troupe has a better future, as it was evident with the way the amateur artistes expressed the feelings for the song of B Jayashree in the play.’

 

Following the staging of the play, writer Dr Mysuru Nataraj a Kannadiga settled in USA said ‘It is worth appreciative that the artists of Ranga Vartula staged the play like professional artists of Karnataka. Nitish Sridhar is an asset from whom we can expect staging of more plays and theatre training for Kannadigas.’

 

Overwhelmed by the response, Nithish said ‘Utsava- 2023 became a reality with the encouragement of sponsors and patrons, both having avid interest in the field of art.
