Mandya DC starts ‘early morning walk’ for water awareness

Mandya: In a first of its kind, a drive has been launched from KRS dam to create awareness on conservation of water bodies.
“Early Morning Walk” a drive to create awareness was launched by Deputy Commissioner Dr M V Venkatesh on February 29.
It is planned to hold the drive once in a fortnight or a month to introduce the natural attractions in the district to the people and draw measures to conserve them, said DC.
Deputy Commissioner said “We have to create awareness on rejuvenating Cauvery river by planting more saplings on the river bunds to restore the water body. At the same time, awareness must be created among public in keeping good health”.
KRS is developed as one of the finest example of natural conservation due to the upkeep of water, land and green facilities. It should be conserved for posterity in the interest of younger generation, said DC.
People should practice Yogasana on a regular basis to maintain good health, added DC.
Additional Deputy Commissioner T Yogesh, Assistant Commissioner Suraj, Tahsildar of Pandavapura Roopa, horticulture department officials were present.
