Mandi police station sealed down as four cops test positive for Covid-19

Mysuru: Four policemen attached to Mandi police station in the city have tested positive for Coronavirus. While one had tested positive earlier, three tested positive later.

Following this, the station premises was sanitised and sealed down. The station is located in Chamaraja Assembly Constituency limits.

DCP (Law and order) Dr S N Prakash Gowda told Mysoorunews.com “Among the policemen, two are in the cadre of Assistant Sub- Inspectors, one head constable and police constable including a woman police constable (WPC)”.

Both the ASIs were on patrolling duty at Garuda and PCR van. Following the infection both the patrolling vehicles also have been stopped.

It is suspected that the personnel may have contracted the virus while on duty. One among the constables was on duty with health and family welfare department personnel. Another is suspected to have contracted the virus near the rented house.

They have been shifted to Vikram Hospital at Yadavagiri that has been converted into a Covid Care Centre only for Corona Warriors.

As a precautionary measure, 50 police personnel of the station irrespective of SI, ASI and others have been put under home quarantine.

Temporary arrangements are made to receive the complaints of Mandi limits at N R police station.
