Sakaleshpura: Man-elephant conflict at Sakaleshpur in Hassan district has claimed a life.

On Wednesday, a herd of about 20 wild elephants trampled Biddaiah aged about 55 years killing him on the spot, at a coffee estate at Adarvalli in the taluk. The face was mangled beyond recognition in the attack.

Following the incident, angry villagers vented their ire against forest department officials.

The villagers expressed their grouse for being the victims of elephant menace and forest personnel doing nothing to address the issue.

More than 20 elephants are roaming in and around Adarvalli village triggering panic among the people.

They are camping in the estates making it miserable both for the estate owners and labourers who are already hit by Covid-19. The elephants have been destroying the plantations.
