Man jailed for life for killing tibetan friend

Mysuru: Judge of Eighth Additional District and Sessions Court Madhusudhan B has sentenced a man to life imprisonment.

Praveen Kumar alias Girish of Doddahonnur village in Periyapatna taluk is convicted in a murder case and has been sentenced to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000. He has to serve additional imprisonment of six months, if he fails to pay the fine.

He has to concurrently serve simple imprisonment of two years and pay fine of Rs 5,000 for being found guilty in destroying the evidence. He has to undergo additional imprisonment of six months, if he fails to pay the fine.

Girish had murdered Lobsang Tshering, 47, by hitting him with a machette on his head on March 05, 2014 at a teak wood grove near Kolli at a reserve forest in Doddahonnur.

Tshering was a resident of fourth new camp of Tibetan settlement camp at Bylakuppe. Girish and Tshering were friends from two to three years and Tshering was helping Girish with hand loan. Girish had failed to repay him that caused differences among them. As Tshering was demanding Girish to return the amount, he hatched a conspiracy to murder him.

Ajit Kumar Hamagi was the public prosecutor for the case.

Bylakuppe police had investigated the case.
