Make preparations to host women at 87th All India Kannada Literary Meet: Sunanda Jayaram

Mandya: Woman farmer leader Sunanda Jayaram, the Chairperson of Women’s Committee, 87th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelan (All India Kannada Literary Meet), said that, women who are coming to Akhil Bharat Kannada Sahitya Sammelan to be held in Mandya district for three days on December 20, 21 and 22, should be extended a good hospitality.

She was presiding over the Women’s Committee meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office hall on Tuesday.

“All kind of basic facilities that the women need will be provided. This time more women should register and plan to attract them,” she said.

Innovative Purnakumbha

Purnakumbha this time must be innovative. Let the women carry books of various litterateurs in Purnakumbha with Kannada spirit like Akshara Jatra. This will let the nation know the importance given by Mandya district for women’s literacy, she said.

Dr Meera Sivalingaiah, Chairperson of Coordination Committee of Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, said that more than one lakh women are expected to participate everyday. The basic facilities should be arranged for the women, without any hiccup.

The Kannada Sahitya Parishat is open to the registration for the conference till the end, but a deadline has been fixed for giving the souvenir and it will be given only to those who have registered till that date.

Dr Sita Lakshmi, Member Secretary of the Women’s Committee said that the Women’s Committee should work in coordination with other committees and provide facilities to women.

The Sub- committees related to Health, Housing, Transport, Food, Seating, Volunteering, Cultural, Registration and Coordinating sub-committees were formed in the meeting.

The members of the committee said that, they are ready to host women in their homes if they come to the conference at the last minute and have accommodation problems.

Women’s Committee Vice President Sowbhagya Mahadev, Moderator C G Sujatha Krishna, Members Malathi, Hemavathy, Usharani, Chandrakala Shivaram, C Kumari, Dr Anusuya, Neela Shivamurthy, Sujatamani, Gayatri, Shobha Venkatesh, Vinuta, Shakuntala, Rupashree S S, Sujatha Siddaiah, Padma Srinivasa, Jayamma, Srilatha Anitha, Varalakshmi, Latha, Pushpa, Anupama and others were present.
