1 min read
Mysuru: With the Gram Panchayat elections in the offing in the state in December, the major political parties are getting ready for the hustings.
While the ruling BJP is basking in the glory of back to back electoral victories, arch rivals Congress and JDS are leaving no stone unturned to outdo the saffron surge.

Though the five years term of the previous elected body at Gram Panchayats ended in May, the elections were postponed due to Covid crises. Now, with the high court giving its verdict on conducting the elections in December, the major political parties in the state are planning and preparing the groundwork.
BJP has launched various programmes to garner the attention of voters. State BJP has been organising  district level “Grama Swaraj Samavesha” in old Mysuru region.
When it comes to Panchayat elections, JDS and Congress parties are strong, while BJP is no behind as it’s making all efforts every year to break the juggernaut.
The saffron party which has been chalking out different strategies for every elections, from GP to parliament, has deployed cabinet rank ministers to organise meetings and address public meets to strengthen the chances of the party.
Unlike general elections, the panchayat elections are not held on the basis of party symbol. Hence the party supported candidates are fielded who are awarded symbols by the election commission.
