Mahatma- 150! Budding artistes to take Gandhiji’s message across the State

Mysuru: Upcoming artistes are being groomed at Rangayana theatre repertory to spread the message of Mahatma Gandhi across the State.

The initiative of the government as a part of 150th birth anniversary celebration of Gandhiji is being taken closer to reality, with 100 artistes taking part in the training programme organised from November 19.
Theatre person Sripad Bhat told Mysoorunews.com “Bolwar Mahamad Kunhi’s “Papu Gandhi Gandhi Bapu Aada Kathe’ is being adapted to the stage. The idea is to get rid of negative thoughts about Gandhiji and highlight his whole life as a productive material for the society”.
IT professionals are also taking part in the initiative. The booklets of Kunhi’s particular work will also be distributed during the tour.
Joint Director of Rangayana V N Mallikarjun Swamy said “starting from November 29, the artistes will be divided into four troupes and will tour the State and perform mainly at schools and colleges “.
Theatre person K T Veerappa inaugurated the training camp.
