Mysuru: Seven women achievers from different fields were conferred ‘Maharani Kempananjammanni Mahila Ratna’ award in the city on Saturday.
The award instituted by Karnataka Sena Pade was given away on account of Maharani Kempananjammanni Day celebrations at Rotary Auditorium near Mysuru Urban Development Authority ( MUDA).
The recipients of the award are as follows- Dr K V Lakshmi Devi ( Medicine), Prof S A Kamala Jain ( Government Maharaja Sanskrit School), SV Jayashri ( Government School, Devaiahana Hundi), A Pushpa Iyengar writer and social worker, P Bhramarambha Maheshwari woman priest, Sangeeta N Sanvi Business Solution and Apoorva Jain C B, dancer, musician and Miss India beauty pageant contestant for this year.
According to Sena Pade district unit president Tejesh Lokesh Gowda, Assistant Professor, History, Government Maharanis Arts College, M S Anita spoke on the life and achievements of Maharani Kempananjammanni famously known as Vani Vilasa Sannidhana. She ruled the princely state as a regent till her son Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar became eligible to rule the kingdom.
