M N Baldev Raje Urs, retired Transport Commissioner, dies at 91

Mysuru: M N Baldev Raje Urs, retired Commissioner of Transport Department, passed away on Monday morning. He was 91.
Born into a family of agriculturists, Baldev Raje Urs, had a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and later joined government services, following in the footsteps of his brothers and father Amuldar Dev Raj Urs.
His brothers, late D Jayadevaraj Urs and D Vijay Dev Raje Urs, were also notable figures. Jayadevaraj Urs was an MLA who played a key role in shifting the Dasara Exhibition to its current location.
Vijay Dev Raje Urs, also known as D V Urs, who was the Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University, introduced the intercom system connecting the entire university.
Baldev Raje Urs, continued to contribute to Urs community after his retirement from service.
He leaves behind a legacy of developmental work in his native place, guiding numerous youngsters and seniors.
He is survived by his wife Rathna Prabha, son Jayachandra Raj Urs, daughters-in-law Usharani and Kala Anup, daughter Poornima, son-in-law T D Mahesh Urs, neice Shubha Sanjay Urs of Mysuru Literary Forum and Charitable Trust and Mysuru Book Clubs-2015, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His last rites will be held at 4 pm today at Ursu Burial ground.
