Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in seven phases: Election Commission Announces schedule

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India announced crucial details regarding the upcoming Lok Sabha elections of 2024.

The elections will be conducted in seven phases; April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20 and May 25 and June 1. The results will be announced on June 4.

A total of 543 constituencies are set across the nation, with an impressive 97 million eligible voters expected to exercise their democratic rights in this electoral process.

To facilitate the smooth functioning of the elections, a substantial infrastructure has been put in place, including 10.5 lakh polling booths, 55 lakh Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and a staggering 1.5 crore staff members deployed for election duties nationwide.

In terms of demographics, the voter base comprises 49.7 crore male voters and 47.1 crore female voters. Additionally, there are approximately 1.8 crore first-time voters, while the youth demographic accounts for an estimated 19.75 crore individuals.

Notably, the elections also include 48,000 transgender voters and a remarkable 82 lakh voters aged above 85 years, highlighting the inclusivity of the electoral process.

To ensure accessibility for all, provisions have been made to assist physically disabled voters, including the provision of help desks and wheelchairs at polling booths.

With such comprehensive preparations in place, the stage is set for a monumental electoral exercise that aims to uphold the democratic values of the nation.
