Likith Chilukuri Karnataka Chess Champion

Bengaluru: Likith Chilukuri has won Akshayakalpa Karnataka State Open Chess Championship.

Likith clinched the title by scoring 8.5 points against his rival Rakshith Srinivasan in the final round match of the tourney held at Silicon City Academy of Secondary Education on October 6.

Likith has pocketed cash prize of Rs 40,000 and a trophy.

Likith who won in 70 moves, employed French defence Tarrasch variation in the opening round and continued to gain advantage into winning against coloured- bishop end game.

With eight points Prachura P P the second seeded player finished as first runner up. Parthasarathy R matched the points of Prachura and was declared second runner-up in a tie- break score.

Likith, Prachura, Parthasarathy and Keshav Kothari will represent State in the upcoming National Premier Chess Championship in December.

Hanumanth R president of UKCA distributed the prizes in the presence of Anand Yadwad marketing head of Akshayakalpa Organic Dairy.
