Let Congress name Kharge as CM candidate: Karjol
1 min readBengaluru: As senior Congress leader M Mallikarjun Kharge from Karnataka becoming All India Congress Committee (AICC) President appears imminent, Water Resources Minister and BJP leader Govind Karjol dared the grand old party to declare Kharge as the chief minister candidate in the State.
Calling all these developments in Congress as a political gimmick, Karjol also a dalit leader fulminated at how the Congress party treated dalits as a vote bank denying the leaders their due.
Referring to Kharge, Karjol said “Kharge won Assembly elections for record 11 terms, but wasn’t made the chief minister”.
Kharge who is the incumbent Rajya Sabha member, represented Gurumitkal constituency in undivided Kalaburagi for record eight times and once from Chittapur in Yadgir carved out of Kalaburagi.
He also represented Gulbarga LS constituency for two terms from 2009 to 2019.
However he lost the subsequent parliamentary elections to BJP’s Dr Umesh Jadhav.
