New Delhi: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi and 14 others in connection with the land-for-job scam during Lalu’s tenure as union railway minister.

Lalu had served as the Union Railway minister in Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s cabinet from 2004 to 2009.

During CBI investigation, it has been found that the accused were hand in glove with then general manager and CPO, Central Railways, engaged persons as substitutes in lieu of land either in their name or in name of their close relatives.

The prime properties in Patna were allegedly sold or gifted to the family members of Lalu in return for railway jobs to their owners and their families.

It may be mentioned that the 74-year-old Lalu who is convicted in a multi crore fodder scam, is currently out on bail.

He served as the chief minister of Bihar from 1990 to 1997.

Both Lalu and his wife are the former chief ministers of Bihar. The RJD is now ruling Bihar in alliance with Janata Dal (United).
