Lance Naik Janardhan Gowda laid to rest with military honours in his native Kikkeri

Mandya: Lance Naik K P Janardhan Gowda (30) was laid to rest with military honours at his native Kikkeri in K R Pet  taluk in the district on Saturday.

Gowda who was infected with pneumonia was undergoing treatment at Command Hospital in Chandigarh, Punjab. He died of heart attack in the wee hours of June 23. His brother was by his side at that time.

Gowda was posted at 27th Mechanised Infantry in the border of Srinagar in Jammu – Kashmir, when he caught pneumonia.

Gowda is the son of Kikkeri Gram Panchayat member Prakash and Bharati. He had joined the army in 2014 and had served in various places. He married Ranjitha in 2019 and the couple have a two-year-old daughter.

The mortal remains of Gowda was brought from Chandigarh to Bengaluru by air on Saturday morning and was brought to his native Kikkeri in ambulance. The mortal remains was kept for viewing at Karnataka Public School campus in Kikkeri for sometime. 

Mandya Deputy Commissioner Dr Kumar visited the village and paid his last respects to the departed soldier.
