KSOU sole institution to offer ODL

Mysuru: From now, Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) is the only varsity in the state that can offer Open Distance Learning (ODL). The state government has issued a notification in this regard after passing bill at Legislative Assembly and at the Council.  

The government run KSOU has equipped with technology to conduct classes through video platform, online teaching and completed its digital interface for Education purpose.

As many as 20,000 students have obtained admission for various 32 courses in KSOU. According to KSOU authorities, the process of admission was done through digital and the students paid fee online. Now, KSOU has facility to connect each student online. 

KSOU Vice Chancellor Dr Vidyashankar told media, the decision of the state government is a boon for the varsity as well as the students. “We are progressing in phased manner and the varsity will opt digital platform for other activities,” he said.

The VC said, KSOU has applied for another 10 new courses, mostly science subjects in bachelors.

 More centres:

KSOU currently has a total of 18 regional centers in different parts of the state. “Now, we are opening few more in different districts. We are focusing on strengthening the regional centers,” VC mentioned. 

KSOU also switch to digital mode in terms of study materials and text books. The materials will be provided to every the students through Tab, App based facility. The varsity also ready to adopt five government schools to develop as model learning centers, he added. 

KSOU Registrar Professor Lingaraja Gandhi told the University is leading in terms of technology and the varsity gets more admission in future. “We also planned for silver jubilee celebrations and Alumni meet in a bigger way.
