KSIC registers Rs 31 cr profit this year

Bengaluru/Mysuru: The Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC) Ltd which is still recovering from the Covid pandemic has registered Rs 31 cr profit in the current year, said Dr Narayangowda, Minister for Sericulture, Youth Empowerment and Sports.

In a release, the minister stated that the KSIC did Rs 204.77 cr business in 2021-2022 financial year and made Rs 31.64 cr profit. Last year, it had registered Rs 27.72 cr profit from Rs 153.59 cr business.

The popularity of KSIC’s flagship brand – Mysore Silk which is a brand in itself – in domestic and international circuits is growing every year. With the introduction of new technology and inculcating new trends, Mysore Silk has registered more than Rs 50 cr business this year. The department aims to introduce more innovative ways to improve the brand and to produce demand-based designer sarees for customers. To accentuate sales, the department has introduced couple package scheme, too, the release added.
