KRS dam will stand strong for 1000 years: CM Basavaraj Bommai

Mysuru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday asserted that “KRS dam is a wonderful monument, which will stand strong for 1,000 more years”.
In his bid to alleviate the fears over the durability of the structure, Bommai said “It is not made of cement, as only lime and mortar is used in its construction”.
The chief minister’s latest assertion voicing on the longevity of the dam assumes significance as Mandya MP Sumalatha Ambareesh had expressed fears over the structure.
Adding credence to it, a part of the structure had also collapsed, but was restored later.
However it had triggered a huge debate especially among political arch rivals, with former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and Srirangapatna JDS MLA Ravindra Srikantaiah mocking at Sumalatha for lacking expertise on such matters of importance.
