KPTCL Tower Construction begins in Vadaragudi, HD Kote taluk

3 min read

Mysuru: The long-delayed 66/11 KV of KPTCL in H D Kote taluk Vaddaragudi village has finally been resolved. This success is attributed to the effective negotiation and the assurance of appropriate compensation, which were the key factors in overcoming the disruption to the power tower and line construction work.

Following a discussion with KPTCL officials and the landowner in the presence of police, the landowner has consented to conduct a survey for the tower construction at the designated site and commence work with adequate compensation.

The construction of a 66/11 kV power tower in Vaddaragudi village, H D Kote Taluk, was initially met with objections from the local residents. Their concerns primarily revolved around a lack of legal information about the project, which led to a delay in the commencement of work.

In the meantime, Deputy Commissioner’s Court directed the landowner to begin work at the designated location after receiving appropriate compensation. It was also recommended that adequate police security be provided for the project.

Following this, T S Ramesh, Superintending Engineer of KPTCL, Mysuru Division, held discussions with the landowners on Monday and assured them of fair compensation. Satisfied with this assurance, the landowners agreed to proceed with the work, and construction began today itself.

What is the case?

The existing KPTCL Hosur gate operates at 66/11 kV and is located 20.568 km from the Sub-Central Mysuru. The project includes a 66/11 kV facility in remote HD Kote, with plans for a 66 kV line on DC towers for the substation. The construction of the SC line is budgeted at Rs 9.77 crore. Eighty-seven towers are planned for this project, of which 81 have already been completed. Only six towers remain to be constructed, but landowners have raised objections concerning tower number 75.

“KPTCL submitted an application to the Deputy Commissioner’s Court seeking approval for the project. After a thorough hearing, the court issued a clear order that the construction of the towers aimed at enhancing the power supply should not be disturbed, nor should modifications to existing towers or reconstruction of power lines be hindered. Additionally, it mandated that appropriate compensation be provided to landowners, who are expected to cooperate with the project. The court further directed that if any disturbances occur beyond this, police should take legal action. This decisive action from the court has provided a clear path forward for the project.”

According to the order, when KPTCL and CESC officials, assisted by police, arrived to conduct the survey, the landowner objected.

The officials explained the DC Court order and requested permission to proceed with the survey and start work. They assured the landowner that KPTCL would provide appropriate compensation per the court’s directive. Satisfied with this promise, the landowner agreed to allow the work to begin.

“Objections and opposition are common with projects like this. However, carrying out this project for the public good and ensuring electricity supply was important. The order from the Deputy Commissioner Court was shared with the landowners, and after convincing them, the tower’s construction began”, said T S Ramesh, Superintending Engineer, Projects, KPTCL Mysuru Division.
