Mysuru: Kollegal MLA N Mahesh on Thursday batted for continuation of B S Yediyurappa as chief minister of the State.
Mahesh who is planning to join BJP has extended his support to Yediyurappa in the ongoing debate over leadership change.
From Chamarajanagar to Bidar, Yediyurappa has attachment with the people of the State. Hence, he must continue in office, demanded Mahesh.
“Yediyurappa effectively managed flood situation and Coronavirus pandemic in the State. He has the best of knowledge about Karnataka and is well aware of the pulse from Chamarajanagar to Bidar, with a sway over all the 224 Assembly constituencies in the State,” said Mahesh defending his stand for Yediyurappa.
Yediyurappa is a tall leader of BJP, with a vast experience of 45 years in politics, Mahesh said. Mahesh who was elected on Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket from Kollegal (SC reserve) seat in 2018 elections, was later ousted from the party. Since then he remains an independent MLA, with speculations rife over his possibilities of joining BJP next.
When JDS- Congress formed a government in alliance in 2018, Mahesh had served as Primary and Secondary Education Minister for a brief period, as he quit later.
