Kodavas ‘up in arms’ in support of Rangayana director Addanda C Cariyappa

Mysuru: Even as a section of activists are against sitting Rangayana Director Addanda C Cariyappa, Kodava community has come out in support of Cariyappa.

While the detractors of Cariyappa staged protest outside the main gate of Rangayana, those rallying behind Cariappa staged a sit-in near Deputy Commissioner’s office. 

The anti- Cariappa agitators received the support of former MLA M K Somashekar who joined the protesters.

Progressive thinker P Mallesh said “Addanda Cariyappa is working according to the BJP school of thoughts. He lacks basic sense about theatre. He was inlvoed in various scams in Kodagu. We will stop him, otherwise he will pollute theatre.”

Activists Mime Ramesh, Janaradhan H, C Basavalingaiah, H N Gopalakrishna, K S Shivaram and Mohan Kumar Gowda were present.

Kodava Samaja and Mysuru Rakshana Vedike staged protest by raising slogane in favour of Rangayana Director Addanda Cariyappa near deputy commissioner’s office.

Corporator Sunil Subbaiah said “Addanda Cariyappa has been organising theatre activities successfully in Rangayana. The left wing activists are demanding the sacking of Cariyappa for no reasons.”

We want to save Rangayana and protect theatre from divide and rule ideology, said Sunil.

My Ka Premkumar said “Mysuru is a cultural city. A few so called activists are disturbing the social harmony.
We support Addanda Cariyappa and protect Rangayana.”

Artist B Kaverappa, Kodava Samaja leaders and Hotel Owners Association President C Narayanagowda, BJP leader M A Mohan and several others were present.
