Karnataka elections: Siddaramaiah has no time to campaign through the State but focus on Varuna: Yediyurappa

Mysuru: Taking a dig at former chief minister Siddaramaiah’s continued campaigning in Varuna, Lingayat strongman B S Yediyurappa said that Siddaramaiah is busy campaigning in Varuna as he is wary of his victory here. Siddaramaiah had stated that he would campaign for a day in Varuna – where he is contesting – as he has to campaign through the State. But, the former chief minister has no time to travel through the State but focus on Varuna, commented Yediyurappa.

Congress candidate Siddaramaiah is pitted against BJP minister V Somanna in Varuna Assembly constituency.

He was speaking to mediapersons at Suttur Helipad here on Tuesday.

He exuded confidence that BJP candidate V Somanna has a positive response from the people here and chances of his victory are high now. “Somanna is a popular leader and a prominent leader of Lingayat community. People are supportive of him,” he added.

Expressing his displeasure over the recent incident in Varuna, where a BJP worker was injured, former chief minister Yediyurappa said that the Congress is frustrated about losing the election and hence is resorting to such actions.

He downplayed the promises made by the Congress in its manifesto – released on Tuesday – and said that it will remain only promises.
