Karnataka elections: Kharge’s comments show Congress’ desperation to win election: Minister Singh

Mysuru: Referring to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge’s comment on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said Kharge’s recent comments – that PM Modi was like a venomous snake – were an indication that the party is upset with PM Modi’s popularity among the people.
“Out of desperation, the Congress leaders are making such comments,” he added.
Addressing a rally at Vivekanandanagar in Mysuru on Saturday, Singh said that Unlike the Congress, BJP does not favour reservation based on religion.
“For, reservation based on religious grounds is unconstitutional. Instead, the BJP want to do it on the basis of justice and humanity,” he added.
Stating that there is no corruption in Modi government, Minister Singh referred to late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s statement that for every rupee sanctioned, only 15 paisa reached the beneficiary while 85 paisa was siphoned off. But it was not the case with the BJP government. “So far, the BJP has released RS 28,000 lakh cr for various schemes in the last nine years. With the Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme, beneficiaries are able to get the full intended amount. Not a single paisa was siphoned off,” he observed.
Emphasising that corruption has no place in Modi government, he said that BJP at the Centre has changed the way the system used to work. He went on to say that there were only 74 airports in the country in the last 65 years. But the BJP has built 74 airports in just nine years.
“If the previous governments strived like this, the country would have been developed by now,” he added.
“The BJP could not come to power on full majority in 2018. But we want to gain power with full majority. The party has chosen Srivatsa as the candidate for the Krishnaraja constituency. He has worked at grassroots level, hence he will work as Jan Sevak if elected,” Minister Singh said while seeking votes for Srivatsa.
