Karnataka elections: Hubballi-Dharwad constituency is not Gujarat to defeat me, dares Shettar

Koppal: Unperturbed by the intense campaigning against him by BJP heavyweights, Congress candidate in Hubballi-Dharwad Central Assembly Constituency, Jagadish Shettar hit back saying that the constituency – that he represented for nearly three decades – was not Gujarat.
“BJP heavyweights including Amit Shah have challenged to defeat me. But this is not Gujarat. I am aware of the politics and the people’s love towards me. I am confident that I will win with a huge margin this time,” Shettar said.
He was in Koppal to campaign for party candidate Raghavendra Hitnal on Monday. “I know the love of Hubballi-Dharwad people towards me. I have never been defeated here as I share a good rapport with all the community. So, I am confident that I will win this time too,” Shettar exuded confidence.
He reitereated that the BJP did not want any senior Lingayat leader in the party and so, he was denied ticket. Commenting on BJP manifesto that was released on Monday, Shettar said that there was nothing special about it. For, the Congress has promised better facilities to the people, he added.
