Karnataka elections: Congress created 10cr fake ration identity cards to siphon money off: PM Modi in Ankola

Ankola: Arriving here for the first time to campaign for BJP candidates of Uttar Kannada district, Prime Minister Narendra Modi – on Wednesday – alleged that during the Congress rule, there were 10 cr fake people receiving ration and money under various schemes.
Addressing a massive public gathering at Hattikeri village here, PM Modi further alleged that fake identities of people were created to siphon off money under various government schemes, during the Congress government. But, the BJP government has put an end to this. For BJP, it believes in “People First” policy while the Congress believes, “Corruption First”, PM Modi said.
“Since I put an end to corruption, the frustrated Congress is busy accusing me with several names,” he said referring to recent jibes.
Referring to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi’s claim that 85 paise of every rupee awarded in various schemes would get lost by the time it reached the beneficiary. “This was the way the government worked when the Congress was in power,” he said.
PM Modi hit out at Congress leader Siddaramaiah who is seeking votes as it is his last election saying instead of seeking votes in the name of development, the Congress wants a ‘retiring’ leader to get elected.
He further said that the BJP was the first to create a separate ministry for fishermen community and have a separate budget for the community. The development of Coastal Karnataka that had taken a backseat during the Congress government is now being prioritised by the BJP, he added.
Lambasting at the Congress government, PM Modi observed that the Congress treated adivasis as votebank and never worked for their prosperity. But it was the BJP that gave the country its first Adivasi president, he added.
Before arriving at the public function, he called on Padma awardees Tulsi Gowda and Sukri Bommu Gowda here. Both of them belonged to Halakki Indigenous tribe of Uttar Kannada.
