Bengaluru: Finally, the long-pending demand for an international-level Film City will come up in Mysuru. Presenting his budget here on Friday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that Mysuru City will have a Film City that will be equipped with global standards.
It may be recalled here that though the Film City was proposed in 2015-16 by the then Siddaramaiah government, it was later decided to shift to Bengaluru. But only on paper as there has been no headway in the project, yet. However, with CM Siddaramaiah reiterating in his budget, the Sandalwood is elated.
Besides, film historians had demanded for a museum exclusively for Sandalwood and the chief minister has proposed that too in the budget. Although, there was a fervent appeal on a museum dedicated to Kannada matinee idol Dr Rajkumar, the chief minister has only approved for a museum that traces the journey of Sandalwood.
In his budget, the chief minister has promised to provide subsidy for Kannada movies that was stopped for the last three years.
In memory of Power Star Puneeth Rajukumar, who succumbed to heart attack, the chief minister has proposed to have Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in all district and taluk hospitals to check heart related ailments. He has proposed to grant Rs 6 cr to have AEDs.
