Mysuru: The Kannada commentary during the Torchlight organised as part of world famous Dasara that concluded recently has drawn a flak.
In a letter to Mysoorunews.com Ambale Mahadeva Swamy, Assistant Professor in Kannada, Siddartha Nagar, has made keen observations, highlighting the erroneous pronunciation of Kannada words by the female commentator, during the Torchlight parade at Bannimantap ground.
Mahadeva Swamy who was one among the eagerly awaiting crowd that had gathered to witness the thrilling event, was peeved over the way some of the words were pronounced in front of the huge gathering that will bring disrepute to the language of the land. More than that, it brought a pain to Kannada lovers, who had also gathered in large numbers.
The district administration should henceforth be cautious in availing the services of such commentators who lack even the smattering of the language.
While Jamboo Savari that concluded was organised in a systematic way, the efforts behind in organising the biggest event in a disciplined and concerted way on a grand scale was visible.
The elephant Abhimanyu who carried the Golden Howdah proved his mettle and was the cynosure of all the eyes with his regal yet composed walk.
The tableaux were also meaningful, that all attracted people from across the globe who had descended on the palace to savour the festive treat, said Mahadeva Swamy lauding the efforts behind in organising the biggest event of the year.
