Kalam-Salam! BGS BEd students pay tributes to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam artfully with a play

Mysuru: Art is not just meant for only entertainment but also to inform and spread awareness. Theatre is one such performing art which has the ability to simultaneously entertain and educate the audience.

Students enact ‘Agniya Rekkegalu’ play

One such awareness creating play was “Agniya Rekkegalu” staged by the students, teachers and trainees of BGS BEd college Kuvempunagar in the city on Wednesday on the occasion of “Kalam-Salam” a programme in commemoration of former President of India late Dr Abdul Kalam at the college auditorium.

This play was directed by Shreyas P, a budding theatre artist and director. Nagesh Kandegala scored the music.

C Basavalingaiah, Director of National School of Drama inaugurated the programme in the divine presence of Seer Sri Someshwaranatha Swamiji. Prof H S Umesh was the guest speaker.

Students enact the play ‘Agniya Rekkegalu’

Yashoda H, administrative officer and Dr Nagaraju, principal of BGS BEd college, Mysuru were present.

The play “Agniya Rekkegalu” commemorated the achievements of “Missile Man of India” Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, also compiled some of his notable speeches and recreated on stage.

The play can be regarded as an eye-opener. The artists’ were natural in their acting which attracted the audience. Overall it was a meaningful performance for “Kalam-Salam”.
