K R Nagar TP meeting: Members protest, EO walks out

Mysuru: Executive Officer of K R Nagar Taluk Panchayat Lakshmi Mohan on Saturday warned a member for behaving like a goonda. It triggered a high drama with the members cutting across party lines taking exception to the officers remarks forcing her to stage a walk out.
Irked members led by TP president Mallika Ravikumar staged a flash protest outside the Panchayat and complained to Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar and ZP CEO K Jyoti over phone.
During the general meeting, one of the members Chandrashekar raised a question related to development works of his constituency. The executive officer shot back calling it as a goonda behaviour on his part. Chandrashekar blamed the officer for acting like a goonda.
Other members Sreenivas Prasad, H T Manjunath, Kumar and Suneetha Dinesh demanded the EO to tender apology.
Executive officer who was unwilling warned of summoning police and conducting the meeting amid police security. It irked the already incensed members further who called it as against the privilege of the members.
As the pandemonium continued, EO walked out of the meeting hall in haste, even as the other officers were watching with anxiety.
TP President Mallika Ravikumar also narrated her unsavoury experience with EO, alleging that ‘the officer had belittled her for questioning for being irregular to office. We don’t need the services of such officers and should complain to Deputy Commissioner and ZP CEO’.
It was also decided to complain to rural development and Panchayat raj department and Tourism and Sericulture Minister Sa Ra Mahesh also the local MLA.
TP Vice- president Sakamma Sannappa, members G S Manjunath, Shobha Kumar, Siddamma Devaraju, Ratnamma Manjunath, Puttagowramma, Veena Dileep, Jayaramegowda, Nagaraj, Nilamani Revanna, Lalitha and K P Yogesh participated in the protest.
