Jumbo caretaker trampled to death! Kin stage flash protest outside Mysuru zoo

Mysuru: Family members and relatives of Harish the animal caretaker at Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens (Mysuru Zoo) staged a flash protest on Saturday.
 
 
Harish (38) who was the caretaker of  elephant Abhimanyu succumbed to the injuries sustained after he was trampled by the pachyderm on Friday.
 
The family members of Harish took his mortal remains and staged a protest in front of the main entrance of zoo on Shalivahana road. They demanded adequate compensation and job for his widow. They refused to budge until and unless their demands are met.
 
Zoo Executive Director Ajit Kulkarni who was non- committal on the demand for job on compassionate grounds informed the agitating family members about insurance cover of Rs one lakh. While it is also being considered to provide a compensation of Rs 10 lakh and additional financial assistance to the next of kin of the deceased employee.
 
Harish was working on a contract basis for the past 18 years. He was the third generation employee as his father and grandfather were also working at zoo earlier.
