JSS, Suttur and St Mary’s Girls High School, Mysuru triumph in St Chavara Cup

Mysuru: JSS High School, Suttur and St Mary’s Girls High School, Mysuru won St Chavara cup inter-school Volleyball and Throwball championship organised by Christ School, Thandavapura.  

A total of 21 teams of various reputed schools Mysuru district participated in this competition.  

The winners bagged a trophy and Rs 5,000 cash prize while the runners up received Rs 3000 cash prize and a trophy.

In Volleyball competition for Boys, JSS High School won the first place while SVEI School, Mysuru team was runners up. Host Christ School, Thandavapura Boys team secured third place.

In Throwball, St Mary’s Girls High School. Mysuru bagged first place, while the girls of Christ School, Thandavapura secured second place whereas Bantwal Madhav Shenoy High School (GSSS) secured third place.

Earlier, Nanjangud taluk physical education officer Shivakumar inaugurated the championship.

Christ School, Thandavapura principal Rev. Fr. Sebastian PJ CMI presided over the programme.

Rev Fr Renny John CMI manager and administrator of Christ School, Thandavapura and Rev Fr Saneesh Patickhel CMI were present.

Olympic torch was relayed by changing hands captains of various teams and finally cauldron was lit from the chief guest and all the dignitaries

All the trophies and certificates were distributed by Fr. Anthappa Swamy, Vicar Nanjangud parish. School principal Rev Fr Sebastian PJ, vice principal Jacintha Veigas, staff coordinator Krishna were present on the occasion.

Referees were also felicitated on the occasion.
