JJP, independents hold the key in Haryana

1 min read

New Delhi: The two national parties BJP and Congress seem to be failing to get a majority on their own, becoming more than inevitable for both the parties to rely on Jan Nayak Janta Party ( JJP) and independents to form the next government.

BJP that had won 47 seats to form the government in 2014 elections, is reduced to 41 seats, but nothing is final yet. Congress is ahead in 30 seats, still less than 16 seats to form the government. JJP is ahead in 11 seats and others including independents in eight seats. The BJP along with the support of JJP can easily add the numbers up to 52 seats.

If the Congress joins hands with JJP and others, it will have the combined strength of 49 MLAs in the assembly.

But, it won’t be easy again as JJP leaders are willing to support those who support their party president Dushyanth Singh Chautala to become the chief minister.
