Jharkhand: Congress led alliance is winning, BJP is losing

1 min read

New Delhi: It seems the ongoing protests against the implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens has hit the BJP hard in Jharkhand.

If gone by the latest trend of Jharkhand Assembly Elections the counting of votes of which is underway on December 23, incumbent BJP led State Government in the State is on losing ground. While Congress led alliance with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Rashtriya Janata Dal ( RJD) is on the winning ground.

In the 81- member Legislative Assembly, Congress led alliance is leading in 42 seats, with JMM alone set to win 25 seats, followed by 12 of Congress and five of RJD. While BJP leads in 28 seats followed by three each of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha and All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU).

Incumbent Chief Minister Raghubar Fas himself is trailing in Jamshedpur East seat.

During the previous elections held in 2014, BJP had won 44 seats and had formed the government on its own. JMM had won 16 and Congress six.

Any party to form the government requires a majority of 41 seats. Congress party led alliance is set to cross the mark, with one seat more than simple majority touching 42 seats most likely in their fold.
