Jan Aushad Kendra opened on Ramanuja Road

Mysuru: Bharateeya Jan Aushad Kendra, a drug centre has been opened near Rajendra Kalamandir on Ramanuja road in the city. MLA S A Ramdas opened the centre in the presence of various leaders on Monday.

Ramadas said the medicines are available at affordable rates. The drugs sold at Rs 100 in other stores are made available at Rs 20 here.

Apart from high quality life saving drugs, nutrine, protein, glucose and other powders are also sold. Nicotine free drugs under ‘ Nirmal’ brand to help tobacco users and smokers to overcome bad habit are also available.

Mysuru district has the credit of opening highest such drug centres. A total of 540 centres are opened in the State and 5300 in the country. There are plans to open 4000 additional centres in the country, said Ramdas.

The project has got impetus ever since Narendra Modi became the prime minister. It was first started with the opening of generic drug centre in the State, when B S Yeddyurappa was the chief minister, recalled Ramdas who was the medical education minister in the same cabinet.
