Jain seer’s murder: State Minorities Commission visits Nandi Parvat Ashram

Belagavi: Following the brutal murder of Jain seer Kamakumar Nandi Maharaj, Chairman of Karnataka State Minorities Commission Abdul Azeem on Tuesday visited Nandi Parvat Ashram at Hirekodi village in Chikkodi taluk in the district.

Azeem also a retired DySP and former MLC said “It is a very sensitive case and Minorities Commission holds the responsibility of safeguarding the rights of minorities and statutory rights. In this wake complete information was obtained by visiting the ashram.”

Azeem told media persons that he visited the Ashram and discussed about the case with police officers. Two accused have been arrested in connection with the case, which is still under investigation. The accused were produced before court and remanded to police custody.

‘The key points of the case were also discussed with the investigation team. It has been directed to conduct a comprehensive investigation including the motive behind the murder, attempt to destroy the evidence, aiding and abetting the gruesome crime. I have instructed the police to treat it as a special case. A report will be submitted to the government within a week, informed Azeem.

The investigation under the supervision of IGP should be completed within six months and the charge sheet should be submitted to the court. Those directly or indirectly involved in the case should also be arrested. The perpetrators should be awarded stringent punishment, he said.

Former Chairman of Karnataka State Minority Development Corporation Mukhtar Hussain Pathan, former Director of Minorities Commission Suresh Tanga, District Minorities Welfare Officer Mirzannavar and others were present.
