Mysuru: Indian Army is one of the biggest in defence sector, with many aspiring to land a job. But, it’s not that easy as the candidates have to pass the gruelling physical test followed by written exam.

Ravi R ( third from the right side among the soldiers standing in the front row).

Ravi R a resident of Janatha Nagar in the city, presently working as an instructor at 20th batallion of Madras regiment is currently posted in Assam. He is helping such aspirants by giving them the required training. He has been working as an instructor since 2011and has so far trained 12,768 youth including 700 civilians.

Ravi told Mysoorunews.com “If anybody wants to join the army he has to cover 1,600 metres run in five minutes and 30 seconds. Besides they have to undertake many other exercises in different categories. To help the budding soldiers in honing up their skills I help them with required abilities”.

Presently, an ‘A’ grade instructor, Ravi has expertise in drill, physical training, weapon and dog handling.

Ravi said ” I am ready to provide a free training in Mysuru, if the government provides required facilities like- mats and bars for regular exercise. There are many youths in Mysuru too, who want to  make it to the army. However what fails them is a lack of adequate training to overcome the hurdles”.

If not in the army, the trained candidates will at least land a job in police department, said Ravi exuding confidence about yielding better results due to regular training.

Ravi’s endeavour in training the new recruits in the army has also fetched him many awards.

Ravi’s intention to train the interested candidates with the only zeal of adding foot soldiers to guard the country is worth emulating. May the authorities concerned come to his support.
