ITF Junior Tennis Tournament: Sreenidhi clinches splendid double

Bengaluru: Promising Karnataka player Sreenidhi Balaji completed a splendid double at the ITF Junior (U-18) tennis tournament in Nairobi, Kenya, late on Saturday.
The 18-year-old Bengalurean scored a come-from-behind win over third-seeded Diya Ramesh in the singles title clash. The fourth-seeded Sreenidhi registered a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory for her maiden singles title. Sreenidhi had toppled top-seeded Haritha Shree Venkatesh 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in the semifinals.
Sreenidhi later annexed the doubles title along with partner Jannat Chiripal. The second-seeded Indian pair scored a hard-fought 6-7 (6-8), 6-3, 10-6 win over Serbia’s Ena Ilic and Alice Lozzi of Italy. This was Sreenidhi’s fourth ITF doubles title.
